More on Snow Leopard compatibility
First, WriteRoom and TaskPaper both have two versions, the current release (downloaded from apps home page), and the current development version (download from wiki). Here’s the current Snow Leopard status for each of those releases:
- WriteRoom 2.3.7 (44) - No known Snow Leopard specific issues.
- WriteRoom 3.0-Development - Affected by crash on startup, see below.
- TaskPaper Version 2.1 (74) - Affected by crash on startup, see below.
- TaskPaper 2.2-Development - Affected by crash on startup, see below. Also often has a bug when saving. It will show a “The document has been moved” sheet, even though the document has not bee moved. You can work around this problem by just clicking the OK button.
The crash on startup issue that effects all releases except for WriteRoom 2.3.7 (44) is odd. I can’t seem to reproduce it, but there’s definitely more then one person who is seeing it. It’s caused when the AppleScript dictionary for the app gets loaded, but I’m not sure why it crashes in some places, but not in others.
Anyway I think I’ve managed to find a fix, and will post that tomorrow. I’ll continue to update this blog post as other problems are resolved.
Update TaskPaper 2.2-Development should now work well on Leopard. You can download the new version here.
Update TaskPaper 2.1.1 is now out and fixes the Leopard crash on start problem. You can download it from TaskPaper’s home page, or just choose the TaskPaper > Check For Updates… menu item.
