Why I’m giving away WriteRoom for 6 days
I am participating in the free MacHeist nanoBundle. Sign up and you’ll get a full WriteRoom license for free. Some people are wondering why, here are some answers:
First, it doesn’t mean that a large paid update is right around the corner. In fact the first update in about a year should be coming out later this month, and it will be a free updated to all users. Longer term (maybe by summer) I do plan to release a big update, WriteRoom 3.0. And I hope to get a $9.95 upgrade fee from everyone who’s tried WriteRoom and likes it.
Second, I’m hoping that new WriteRoom users will try out WriteRoom.iPhone. I think it’s the best app for writing on the iPhone. It has a unique full screen mode that lets you see more text. It also has an open source sync solution SimpleText.ws built in. A great unique app, but pretty much lost in the pile of 100,000 other iPhone apps. I hope it gets some attention!
Third, I expect to be releasing TaskPaper.iPhone, and iPhone client for my TaskPaper app, around the new year. It’s going to be a great app, and I hope to get it off to a good start. I expect that it will appeal to WriteRoom users, so the more the better, and giving WriteRoom away for free this next 6 days can only help.
