The iPhone UI has an actions icon problem.

On Mac OS X the “gear” icon (above left) is used for an actions. But the iPhone Settings app uses gears in its icon, and as a result the third party standard for in app settings now appears to be some form of the gear icon.

The iPhone standard UI provides an “actions” icon (middle above), but to most people it looks like a reply icon. I use it in WriteRoom for iPhone, but I keep hearing from users who never found the actions (delete, send email, rename, word count), because they thought it was only for sending email.

Now I need an actions icon for TaskPaper for iPhone. The best that I can come up with now is to use the generic “more” icon (above right). If anyone has a thoughts on a better alternative please let me know.
